There are different ways leather is crafted upon. One reliable way is to sew leather. This can be done with a machine or by hand. There are many leather sewing patterns that one can opt for. It is easier to sew leather with a machine than by hand. Usually a heavy thread, presser feet and sharp needles are required to sew leather. Pins can make holes which remain in leather and hence, it is usually clipped, glued, taped or stapled together.

Sewing by machines

The right tools and equipments are invested by these businesses. Leather needles are special and exclusive tools that are required for the process. Such needles are sharper to pierce through the varying thickness of the material. Usually sewing machines with a presser foot is required for sewing leather. Such machines ensure that leather; fabric does not stick to the machine or scrape the material.

Threads and other tools

When hand stitched leather goods are being made, cotton thread used for regular sewing will not work on this material. As a result nylon thread or polyester thread will be required when hand crafted leather goods are being made. Pinning leather can create marks and destroy the appearance of the material. Hence, in order to hold together two pieces of leather tape is used or stapling is done. Clips are also used which can be removed when the stitching is completed.
